Daniel Ortega, former president of Nicaragua during its socialist and communist era, is expected to win that country's next presidential election. Since 1990, one out of 10 Nicaraguans has left the country in search of work. Last week, Nicaragua's parliament moved to ban abortions, even in cases where the mother's life is at risk.
